Fire Master Marley – Kristin L. Stamper
Kristin L. Stamper’s MG Fantasy novel FIRE MASTER MARLEY. Release Date – Q4 2019
FIRE MASTER MARLEY is a story about friendship, self-acceptance, and how you don’t have to be “special” to be important. It features a strong female protagonist of color and a diverse supporting cast.
Ever since Marley moved to Harken City, she’s had a hard time fitting in. The other kids think she’s a weirdo, and aside from a local cop who’s always getting her out of trouble, she doesn’t have any friends.
But when the world’s most powerful sorcerer witnesses Marley using fire magic, he invites her to step out of her lonely life and join the Apprentice Trials–a heated competition where contestants’ magical abilities are put to the test, and one winner will have the honor of becoming his apprentice. Best of all, it’s full of weirdos like her.
There’s just one problem.
Marley wasn’t using fire magic. She was using a flamethrower she made out of a lighter and a can of hairspray. She didn’t even know magic was real until that day, and she certainly doesn’t have any magical abilities. If she wants to stay in the competition, she’ll have to get creative, but don’t people always say “fake it till you make it?”
What could possibly go wrong?
